Summer 2026

Summer is here!

At June’s North of 60 gathering, we sang hymns and shared stories from our experiences of church and singing hymns. Rosemary remembered once hearing two of our young boys singing a hymn’s bass line from the front pew full of children, joining in with the adult men in the choir. Now, nearly 20 years later, those two boys were there, adults themselves: Adoniram as our summer student and Xavier leading the hymns on piano.

We were blessed in June by our young people as they helped to lead a service. A week later, it was great to celebrate the milestone transitions many of them are making this year. We are proud of all them.

Once a month, pastors from the downtown churches meet. This past year, we’ve invited a different agency each month to help us reflect ministry in the downtown. We have visited with Regina police, Menta Health, the Anti-Poverty Ministry, and the City of Regina. It is incredible how many people are at work each day in our city, serving and caring for one another. Thanks to all this work, our downtown remains a safe place to walk and visit, with parks, galleries, and independent stores.

From where you are sitting, there are visible signs of God’s grace at work each day. Sometimes, it is God’s grace at work through people who assist you in some way or people who build and run our city. God’s grace is also in nature as it flourishes in summer. Sometimes it is easy for us to spot God’s goodness and give thanks. In other times, it can be a struggle to feel thankful. But God is faithful. God will be with us to the end. Let us turn to God again for consolation and renewal.

With love, Pastor Joel
