Here is a list of Holy Week Worship Services and Events. People from both First Baptist Church and First Karen Baptist Church are encouraged to attend as we remember the events leading to the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Sunday, April 1, 7:00 p.m.
Easter Alleluia: A Concert of Music for Holy Week and Easter, see poster.
Thursday, April 5, 7:00 p.m.
Maundy Thursday: On this day we remember how Jesus established the Lord’s Supper and gave the “great commandment” to love one another. Holy Communion will be celebrated.
Friday, April 6, 10:30 a.m.
Good Friday: This is a joint service involving First Baptist, Argyle Road Baptist and Westhill Park Baptist churches. It will be in the form of a “tenebrae” which means we will read and reflect on each of the seven last sayings from the cross. During the service the sanctuary will be gradually darkened as we remember the death of Jesus. Preacher will be Rev. Devin Seghers, our area minister.
NOTE: This service takes place at Westhill Park Baptist Church, 8025 Sherwood Drive.
Sunday, April 8, 6:30 a.m.
Sunrise Service. A short open air Easter sunrise service of Scripture reading and hymns at the Wascana Marina, followed by breakfast at the church.
Sunday, April 8, 11:00 a.m.
Easter Sunday Morning Worship! First Baptist and First Karen Baptist combined service.
