Saturday Lunch Program

Every Saturday over the noon hour, First Baptist Church, in partnership with a number of other Regina churches, hosts a free lunch for the downtown area. The goal is to provide food security in the form of a free bag lunch for anyone who comes. Increases in the cost of food, shelter, and goods, and a drop in monthly government support has heightened food insecurity in Regina. It is hoped that relationships grow at these meals. People become friends over the months, learning each other’s names and sharing a bit about their lives.

Many denominations/traditions are represented. This event raises awareness about the needs in Regina by bringing together people with different experiences of life in Regina.

Each week, various toiletry items are given away that are greatly appreciated by our guests. Here is a list of items that would be appreciated:

  • toilet paper
  • toothbrushes
  • toothpaste
  • alcohol-free mouthwash
  • tums/rolaids
  • bar soap
  • shampoo
  • deodorant
  • feminine hygiene products
  • 1/4 cup portions powdered laundry detergent.
  • reusable shopping bags
  • No clothing please, except for new socks, mitts, toques, scarves and men’s gloves
