Giving Thanks to God

A few weeks ago, Pastor Cheryl encouraged us to name the things we are grateful for every day. Since her sermon, I’ve come across a few news articles talking about the many benefits of taking note each day of things to be grateful for.

Gratitude is a prayer of thanks to God. Each day, we can be thankful for someone’s service, for friendship, for music and arts, for learning, for nature, for comforts. Most of all, we can be thankful for God’s love for us and God’s presence with us to the very end.

As we begin a new year, here are just a few of the things from our life together that I’m thankful for:

• The baptisms of Christine, Rowan, and Sara
• The Ordination of Christopher Senger as Pastor and Luther High school Chaplain
• The number and range of people who volunteered to dismantle and pack the two pipes organs
• The generosity of support to our CBM partners in Lebanon
• The safe births of Elyana, Gabriel, and Cederick

There were hard times as well. Several people lost close family members.

I’m thankful for everyone’s hard work last year in service and discipleship among children, teens, seniors, and through music, outreach, and meals. I’m thankful for the love people show for each other and for God.

Thank you God for all your goodness to us, it is new every morning.

With Love, Pastor Joel
