In today’s readings two leaders (Elijah and Jesus) prepare to be taken away and their followers learn how to take on greater responsibility and about the kind of commitment needed to follow their leaders example . At times of transition, when the LORD takes away those who have been powerful or influential in our lives, it may be important for us to discover if and how the same God who empowered them will continue to be with us and enable us to continue.
