Jesus calls us to live a countercultural life, a life that reflects the way he lived. This week’s Scripture invites us to live humbly. Too often, humility has been misunderstood to mean thinking poorly of ourselves. But that’s not how Jesus lived. Jesus knew he was deeply loved by God and intentionally sent by God to live in a way that would invited people back to God. As C. S. Lewis wrote, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.”

As people who are deeply loved by God, we are also invited to live our lives in a way that recognizes God’s greatness and invites those around us to draw closer to God too.
