My Life Journey on Reflection

Speaker: Rev. Rob Ogilvie

Growing up as a preachers kid in southern Ontario I was one who always knew about God, even before accepting Jesus into my life and being baptized by my father when I was 16. A year at the Baptist Leadership Training School in Calgary brought me west, taught me much and was also the place where I met the woman who became my wife. I had no idea that the four plus years I spent in the management training program with McDonald’s and running my own restaurants, was one huge way that God was equipping me for both 13 years of pastoral ministry and 12 years of denominational leadership. I look forward to sharing some of my story with you of how God leads even in ways you never really expect.

Rob Ogilvie has been a part of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada for more than 35 years leading in various roles as a church member, senior lead pastor, and the regional minister for the British Columbia and Yukon region. In the summer of 2017 Rob stepped into the role as Executive Minister of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada. He and his wife Bonnie have two daughters who are each married and live in the Edmonton and Calgary area. Rob and Bonnie have one grandchild and another on the way. Among a myriad of other things, they enjoy biking and time with friends and family. Rob brings a natural leader’s heart to this role with a desire to build bridges between the denomination and the local church and to be a champion of ongoing ministry in the local church context and beyond.
