Let It Be with Us According to God’s Word
If you consider the story of Jesus’ birth, when you lay out each thing that happened to Mary and Joseph and consider their struggles, none of it sounds easy. The other end of Jesus’ life is also painful and tragic. And yet this was God’s plan. I’m tempted to say, “That doesn’t sound like a good plan!” But God’s plan is the best.
Going through hard times does not mean we are not in God’s will, anymore than it meant that for Mary and Joseph. For one thing, sometimes we bring trouble on ourselves. But even obediently following God’s plan can be confusing, unpredictable, and just plain hard. We might be tempted to say, “God, this isn’t a good plan!”
If we wait and pray, there is a light that breaks over the horizon of our darkness. God is faithful and will come to us. Mercy for us is deep within God and God has promised to come and save us.
This Advent and Christmas, may God visit you as you seek him on your own, and may God minister to you in whichever of our services, concerts, and meals together you are able to participate.
May Jesus be a light in your life and on your pathway.
With Love, Pastor Joel
