Joel Russell-MacLean
As I got older, I learned not to take for granted someone making me breakfast while I was still waking up. At my grandmother’s, stacks of french toast were often waiting as my siblings and I came out. She had risen early and prepared everything.
In this week’s resurrection story, the disciples had been out net fishing all night. Early in the morning, on the shore, Jesus appeared and prepared breakfast for them. He called them in and they found bread and fish waiting.
When we gather around a meal, especially around the communion table, Jesus, risen from the dead, is with us.
