Joel Russell-MacLean
When Jesus stood before the tomb of his friend Lazarus, he was in turmoil within himself. Now, once again, his life was in turmoil. This time, he was facing his own death. This was his own choice.
He gave up his life so that we might become children of light.
“Become children of light” makes salvation sound like a way of life. By calling us children, we are being invited to join a family, to be part of a network of relationships. Also, “become” doesn’t sound like something that is simply one and done – it is an invitation to live, grow, and be changed.
