This week, we start our summer series on the parables of Jesus found in the book of Matthew. Our first series of parables come at the end of Jesus’ sermon on the mount. If you have time, I encourage you to read the entire Sermon on the Mount, found in Matthew 5-7. The crowds were impressed by how Jesus taught with such authority. Where as other religious leaders of the day would refer to what they learned from their mentors, Jesus used words like “I say…” The people were impressed by his teachings, but Jesus made clear that being impressed wasn’t sufficient. The hearers had to make a decision:
What will I do with Jesus’ teachings?
Join us as we explore these parables that remind us that is not sufficient to simply be hearers of the word. And come explore together what it means for us to be doers of the word.
