Seven and half centuries before Jesus, the Northern Kingdom of Israel was doing well. They were economically prosperous and were at peace with the nations around them. But economic sin and hypocritical worship were rampant. Instead of sending a professional prophet to warn them that they were ripe for imminent punishment, God sent Amos, a sheep breeder from the Southern Kingdom of Judah.
