“By Whose Authority…”
AUTHORITY….We live in a society dependent upon authority. In Jesus day, religious authority was extremely important. However, in Matt. 21: 23-32, the Pharisees asked Jesus what his authority was for the things he was proclaiming. Jesus was caught in what we might refer to today as a “catch 22” situation. Jesus knew that if he gave a straight answer this would result in the final crisis before he had finished his work. Jesus responded using a Rabbinic tradition. What was that tradition?

Questions to be answered: How did Jesus explain where is his authority came from? Is the Bible just a human book? Or does the Bible have divine authority? Is Jesus described as the Word of God in the scriptures? Is the Bible referred to as the Word of God? How you answer these questions influences your life journey immensely. Hearing and reading about the teachings of Jesus is not enough. We must apply these teachings to our daily lives. Talking the talk is not enough. Good intentions are not enough. We must walk the walk.
