Summer Winds Down

Regina Open Door summer camp filled the lower hall with young children experiencing their first summer in Canada. Many of them arrived as refugees. It is so good to hear them singing and playing throughout the week.

For many of us, this was a summer of learning how a pipe organ works! Many hours have been spent dismantling, packing and shipping the pipe organs of St Matthew’s and First Baptist Church. Lots of people have come to help. Over the coming year, our organ will be refurbished and transformed and returned to us.

There were summer camps at Katepwa Lake with campers and staff from our congregation, North of 60 meetings at the church, and a great send-off for our organ at the end of August.

Folks from our congregation hosted four patio parties this summer. Our hosts spoiled us and each evening was lovely with good turn outs of all ages. In July, Cheryl and Mark welcomed us to their farm for a bbq, hayride, and time with their animals. In August, Heather and I, and a few of our neighbours, hosted the church and our block for a street party. 50 neighbours came (and a few more folks from beyond) and mingled with those who came out from First Baptist. It was meaningful for our neighbours and many were ready to talk about faith during and afterwards.

All our regular programs begin again this month. A big thank you to everyone who plans to make time this year to help and serve in some way. Our goal is to build up one another in faith and love and to encourage all to know God and God’s purposes, more and more. This can only come by God’s grace.

Please continue to pray.

Yours, with Love, Pastor Joel
