The Board has approved offering organ scholarships to qualified applicants from inside and outside of the church. This has been made possible thanks to the generosity of Ruth Nelson and Walter Ellis.
The goals are:
- To encourage and develop musicians in general and organists specifically;
- To increase among musicians familiarity with, and knowledge of, church music and church worship services;
- To seek and draw out both musicians within the church as well as musicians with no previous experience of Christianity;
- To provide financial support while learning, as well as rewarding experiences playing during worship services and other music events.
There are a number of criteria for applicants including having grade 7 or 8 piano and good sight reading ability. An audition will be required.
