New Year Notes
Church bells are one of the treats of living near the downtown. Several churches around us ring their bells on Sundays and other occasions such as New Year’s day. These are often quiet mornings with little to no traffic or activity. Over the still neighbourhood the bells ring out their worship and their summons.
As I look back over the past year, I’m thankful for all the people who responded to God’s summons ringing out over our world.
• The baptisms of Edward Tsemi, Maizy Russell-MacLean, and Lilen Wollbaum
• The generous giving to our camp and to CBM and Lebanon
• Our Easter and Christmas Concert with new folks joining the seasonal singers
• Three new teams of ushers, two new board members, many commissions restarted or renewed
• Free lunches provided every Saturday. This month is the 3rd anniversary of this ecumenical ministry. Some of our Saturday guest joined us for our Christmas Banquet.
• Rob Stafford-Lai joining the staff
• All the comfort and care shared throughout our grief and losses
May the turning of the public calendar be a reminder to us to be born again. May we recommit ourselves to Jesus, the light of the world. May we be renewed so that we might live in pray and serve Jesus in this coming year to the best of our ability.
Yours, with love,
Pastor Joel
