Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 20th, following the morning service

Lower Hall – Lebanese cuisine!

The Missions Commission will be hosting our annual fundraiser, again spotlighting our Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) partners in Lebanon. While we have raised funds to support the many ministry efforts in Lebanon for several years, recent events in that part of the world are making it more and more important to remember them in our prayers and with any money we can offer. Israel has launched airstrikes across Lebanon, tens of thousands are fleeing their homes to make their way to Beirut where they hope to find safety, and more than 100,000 people have been displaced by nearly a year of fighting. Come to the luncheon to hear more about what is going in the region, how our partners have been, and are committed to continuing, to help and how we can partner alongside our Lebanese Baptists friends.

Where your gift goes:

First Baptist Church Regina has an ongoing commitment to our partnership through Canadian Baptist Ministries with the work in Lebanon in three areas:

  1. Botros Team Support
Support Emad and Almess Botros in their ministry in Lebanon. Emad is an Assistant Professor in the areas of Old Testament and Islamic Studies at ABTS, where he trains and equips students for ministry across the Middle East and North Africa. View their CBM ministry page here:  https://www.cbmin.org/staffprofile/emad-almess-botros/
  2. Syrian Refugee Support
These funds make it possible for Syrian refugee children to participate in children’s ministry programs, including camp ministries, online ministries, and “camp-in-a-box” resources for families.
  3. Lebanon Conflict Relief
Since 2019, Lebanon has faced unprecedented and complex political, economic, financial, social, and health crises. More recently, conflict has increased in the region with September 23, 2024, marking a significant escalation. In the last 2 weeks, between 608,000 and 1 million people have been internally displaced in Lebanon as they flee areas targeted by airstrikes – that is up to 1 in 5 people. This is in addition to the estimated 1.5 million Syrian refugees that Lebanon is already hosting, the largest number of refugees per capita in the world. CBM is responding through our partners ABTS and Thimar in Lebanon. Read more here: https://www.cbmin.org/appeal/lebanon-conflict-relief/

Every donation made between September 24th and November 3rd for CBM’s Lebanon Conflict Relief will be matched by the Canadian Government to a maximum of $3 million. All donations from our fundraiser will be directed towards this emergency appeal.
