Fall Fundraiser: Lebanese Partnership
At First Baptist, we don’t want “Missions” to simply be about sending our money somewhere else in the world, but rather that it should be about us seeing ourselves as actually connected to our neighbours, both near and far. Jesus has called us to be a new kind of community, shaped by justice, peace and compassion. We become that community by practicing those very things – building relationships across borders, listening and learning from one another, and sharing in one another’s joys and burdens. For several years, one of the ways we have tried to live this out has been through our partnership with Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) in Lebanon and our support of Emad and Almess Botros.
As Emad and Almess conclude their time with CBM, First Baptist Regina’s commitment to the region will continue. Since 2019, a number of people from our congregation have travelled to Lebanon, building relationships that give us good reason to keep this connection strong. In a region enduring war, displacement, economic crisis, and uncertainty, CBM and its Lebanese partners THIMAR continue to work within their communities, offering practical care, education, hospitality and hope.
Following the service on October 18th, join us for our Fall Missions Luncheon, as we celebrate this continuing partnership, learn more about the work being done in Lebanon, and look toward the next chapter of our relationship with CBM.
