How do we read the signs of the times? Jesus said to the crowds: “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.”
Our methods of weather forecasting are considerably more sophisticated than those of the first century, but how much better are we at interpreting the signs of the times? The prophets of ancient Israel delivered God’s message to his people, sometimes in colourful language, pulling no punches. This class will study the 12 shorter books of prophecy from the Old Testament, and discuss how their message speaks to us today.
