Visitation Seminar

Tips for becoming a better visitor, a better friend, for a church where no one is left behind.

We are offering a 75 minute seminar for those who want to care for others in the church, and who would like help in becoming more effective in their visiting and in their friendships. The seminar will be given twice:

  • fbcevent_ccc_VisitSem-RSVP_2017Apr08Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10:30 am, or
  • Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 9:30 am.
  • RSVP by April 5, 2017 to (306)359-1450, or [email protected]

These are the things we will talk about

  • What makes for a good visit? Paying attention to the goal.
  • Dos and Don’ts of good visiting. How to avoid messing up; how to make it worthwhile.
  • What makes for a healthy relationship? Boundaries; commitment. Knowing how to care.
  • How to talk about things that matter. (And not just the weather and the Riders). What on earth will I talk about?!
  • Walking together when the journey is difficult. Not avoiding the hard stuff.
  • Do I have to talk about God? Moving to holy ground. Spiritual friendship.
  • Feelings of being inadequate for the task. I don’t think I can do this. Yes you can!

Who should come?

  • Anyone who has thought about reaching out to care for others in the church, but feels inadequate or lacking in confidence.
  • Anyone who is visiting and caring for others, but feels they could use some help to do it better.
  • Anyone who would like some tips on relating well to others and developing meaningful friendships.
  • Anyone who would like to become a spiritual friend.

If I come, will I have to make some kind of commitment afterwards?

No. What you do with this is between you and the Lord. However, we do hope you will be encouraged, moti-vated and better equipped to care for others in a deeper way, whether within or beyond the church. And that you’ll go and do it! And, if we see a need and think you might be just the one to connect with someone in the church who needs a friend, we might just ask you to consider it. But what you do after the seminar is really up to you.

We are also here to provide encouragement, support, counsel, and a listening ear for you, as you care. And more seminars may be offered, as needed.

The Seminar Facilitator will be Pastor Ron Phillips. He has been caring for people and attempting to improve his caring skills within the church for over 40 years. He is still learning! He knows that joy that comes through caring for others, and hopes you will come to know that joy too. And make a Kingdom difference!
