Folks at First – Say Ka Paw

Greetings from Say Ka Paw

Thank you

First, I want to thank God for calling me to serve him. And I also want to say thank you to Wayne and Marlene who have found jobs for me every summer, and to James Clifford of Youth for Christ who gave me a job this summer to work with the Karen youth. I would also like to thank people from First Baptist Church and New Friends in Christ Church who donated money to Youth for Christ so I was able to work with the youth.

Challenge of Living Between Two Cultures

Honestly, at first I was not too excited to work with the youth, especially Karen youth that came to Canada and act like they know everything and know more than their parents. As the word of God says in Isaiah 55:8-9, ”For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways” declares the Lord. ”As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts”. I found out that my experience this summer made it my best summer. The youth enjoyed themselves and had fun. The most important thing that I noticed was that the youth became better kids after that. Sometimes it is difficult for the youth to live between two cultures that they have to grow up with.

Proud of Their Accomplishments

Their parents are very happy for having this program for their children, because their children have nothing to do for the summer. They just stay home and play video games, watch movies and hang out with their friends. Instead they learned about the Word of God, how to prepare food for themselves instead of their parents cooking for them, and got encouragement to do something better and to actualy get somewhere in their future life. They also participated in many musical and sporting activities. At the end of the program I was very proud of them for becoming better kids. I know God was also very really pleased with them. I miss my afternoon class with my precious youth.
